Good afternoon!!  Today in Reception we started the day working in our Cambridge Science book with Miss Helen! We talked about animal families and had to draw the parents and the babies.

Then after lunch we went for our second lesson about dental hygiene! We learned the correct way to brush your teeth using a giant model of a mouth! 

Then we got to play a game where we were dentists and we got to visit our own patients to see what a dentist visit is really like!!

The next game was super fun! There was a bag filled with food items! each on of us got to fish a food out of the bag and then we had to decide if it was a friend or foe to our teeth!! 

 We were so good that we guessed them ALL right!!! Who knew that bananas were not friends to our teeth!!

At the end of the presentation we each received a certificate of participation and a tooth brush kit to take home!! There was even a timer in it to help us brush our teeth for 2 minutes!! It was really fun learning about our teeth and how to care for them!!!

Good afternoon!!! Today in Reception we finished our work on our Flower and Sabbiarelli project with Miss Paola and Miss Lindsay! We started with Miss Paola showing us a calendar that has a different flower associated with every week of the year!! 

We then took our colored sand flowers and Miss Lindsay placed them on a poster where she and Miss Paola wrote " Grazie Primavera!". We decided this was the best way to celebrate both the projects together!

Miss Lindsay had each of us help glue our flowers on! Then she added some green rolled up crate paper to make stems!

Then we used a big white bow to bring the stems together!! In the end we had a beautiful bouquet!! Our gift to say thank you to spring! You can see our poster outside of the classroom!!

Then after break, we learned a new letter with Miss Paola! The letter H!!

We learned that most words that begin with H are foreign words like Hot dog, Hotel and Horror!!

Good afternoon!! Today in Reception we were able to take part in a very special project! Two doctors came from Centro Medicina to teach us about dental hygiene! The First and Second years were also there! 

They talked about what teeth are!

How many we have and what we have to do to keep them clean!

Then they talked about who the friends and enemies are of our teeth!! Who knew there were so many!! It was a lot of fun and we learned so much!! We can't wait for Wednesday when we have another lesson with them!!

Good afternoon!! Today was a very special day in Reception!! Miss Paola and Miss Lindsay have decided to incorporate two projects we have to work on. One is with the Sabbiarelli and the other is a flower project for Spring. They decided that we would decorate flowers using the colored sand!!

Miss Paola started by explaining what we would be doing and how flowers are important in Spring! Then Miss Lindsay showed us the materials we would be using!

The sand is very colorful and almost glittery.

First we had to punch out the flowers!

Then the teachers would put the glue on and we had to add the sand. We started by putting yellow sand in the center!

It really looks like pollen!!!

Then we could choose what color we anted to do the rest of the flower. There were so many to choose from: Red, Blue, Light Blue, Purple, Pink and Orange!! It was so much fun!! Now we just have to put together the poster!!

Good afternoon!! Today in Reception we had Music with Miss Elena! Right now we are working on the Italian songs for the play!!

Then after lunch we celebrated the arrival of Spring with Miss Helen!! We talked about what Spring is and what changes there are!! Then we cut out our March fruit which were Lemons!!  

We had to trace the title of the page!

Then we had to color a Spring themed worksheet!! There were so many things related to Spring! Flowers, Easter, baby animals and sunny skies!!

Good afternoon!!! Today in Reception we practiced for the Play!! We are getting closer to the big day so it is sooooo important that we know our parts well!!

Then after break we worked with Miss Helen on our Memory book! 

It's always nice to see how our drawing our getting better and better!!

Good afternoon!!! Today in Reception we learned the number 7 with Miss Paola. First we had to trace the number!

Then we had to try it on our own! After that we had to draw 7 flowers and 7 squares!

After Break we got to play Sigla!! The super fun game where we have to guess the words shown on the cards! It is so fun guessing!!!

There are so many great words to choose from!!!!!

Good afternoon!! Today in Reception we started the day doing Weekend News with Miss Helen. Then after lunch we learned the letter G with Miss Paola. We started by hearing story and then we had to trace the letter in our notebook!

After tracing we had to try to write the letter on our own!!

Then we came up with a long list of words that begin with the letter G. Miss Paola told us to choose our favorites and so then we had to draw them!! We love learning new letters.

Good afternoon!!! Today in Reception we learned about the letter F with Miss Paola. First we started by hearing a story about the letter.

Then we had to trace it and write it on our own!

After we came up with a long list of words that begin with the letter F.

Then we got to pick which things we wanted to draw picture of!! There were so many to choose from!!

Fate, Fiori, Farfalle, Forme and even Fantasmi!!

Good afternoon!! Today in Reception we had Music with Miss Elena! We practiced our Italian songs for the play! They are beautiful but difficult!

Then in the afternoon we worked with Miss Helen on our masks for the play!

We each had to punch out our own one. They were a little difficult but we were able to do it!!!

Good afternoon!!!! Today was a great day! We got to see a really funny puppet show by Alberto De Bastiani!! He and is puppets are super funny!! The show this year was called "Il Segreto di Arlecchino e Pulcinella"!

There were a lot of us who came to watch it!!

The puppets had us rolling on the ground from laughter!! There was even the Devil who entered with fire!!

After the show, Alberto answered all of our questions about how it works! He showed us all his tricks!! We can't wait for next year when he comes back again!!

Good afternoon!!! Today in Reception we learned the number 6 with Miss Paola! We had to write the number, first by tracing it, then on our own!

Then we had to draw 6 flowers and color them!

Then we had to draw 6 squares!! It is so much fun to learn new things!!
